Xabi Alonso’s Leverkusen won for the 18th time in 22 league matches to go eight points clear of second-placed Bayern Munich after an away win at Hoffenheim, making it 32 games without defeat in all competitions this season.
Leverkusen took the lead in the stoppage time of the first half with a goal scored by Jeremy Frein, and in the 81st minute of the game, Ameen Alli scored the second goal that ensured the win, past the goalkeeper from an assist by Waz.
Hoffenheim reduced the gap in the 86th minute of the game with a goal by Klandiens, but Leverkusen managed to win. Leverkusen now have a record 32-game unbeaten streak in the Bundesliga, matching Bayern Munich’s 32-game unbeaten streak under Hans Flick in 2019 and 2020. Leverkusen is now in good shape to win the first Bundesliga title in the club’s history with a win over Hoffenheim.
