The United States resumed oil imports from Russia after a break of a year and a half

In October 2023, the United States imported from Russia the first batch of oil in almost 37 thousand barrels in a year and a half, and in November about 10 thousand barrels were bought, according to an analysis by RIA Novosti of data from the American statistical service.

In March 2022, Washington imposed a ban on imports of oil and other energy resources from Russia as part of a new tightening of sanctions. The last batch of Russian “black gold” was purchased by American companies in April of that year. The US has called on the G7 to tighten control over the trade in Russian oil

However, according to the agency, in October last year, the United States purchased 36.8 thousand barrels of oil from Russia. The cost of imports amounted to 2.7 million dollars. (source from RIA)
