In 2023, nearly 1.5 million domestic and foreign tourists visited Shan State, including more than 60,000 foreign tourists, according to the Department of Hotels and Tourism (Shan State).
A total of 450 licensed hotels, motels and guest houses are situated in Shan State, and currently, 337 with 160000 rooms are operating.
Most of the tourists visited Kyai Tong and Tachilek in eastern Shan State, including Kalaw, Aungban, Pindaya, Ywa ngan, Taunggyi, Inle, it is reported.
A total of 14 destinations that domestic and foreign tourists should visit on a priority, included Shan State.
These tours are Pyin Oo Lwin, Kalaw, Inle, Taunggyi, Kawthoung, Kyaukpyu, Munaung, Puta-O, including Nay Pyi Taw, Yangon, Mandalay, Bagan, Ngwesaung,Chaung Thar, Ngapali regions.
In the tourist season of 2022, the number of domestic tourists exceeded one million, and in 2023, more than three million are expected.
