Necessary responses to be carried out if KIA conducts more attacks: SAC warns

4 November 2023

The Tatmadaw will carry out necessary measures to respond to terrorist attacks made by KIA that harm the public and attacks on security posts as necessary, the State Administration Council warned.

As KIA blows up non-military infrastructure like railroads, roads, bridges and ambushes security posts in Kachin State, Tatmadaw has carried out necessary responses, SAC stated.

In blowing up railways, the KIA blew up the 120-foot long Bridge No. 555 on Myitkyina Railroad, two miles to the north of Morhan Village in Mohyin Village on 17 April, 2021, the 320-foot long Nanchwin Bailey Railroad Bridge about 800 metres to the north of  Ngamile Village in Kyargyikwin Village Tract on 6 October, 2023, the 80-foot long Yaypoutkyi railroad bridge about 2500 metres south of Myotthitkalay Village in Hopin Village and the 40-foot long Nantharyar Railroad Bridge on 7 October, 2023.

Similarly, they blew up the 50-foot long concrete Tawetchaung bridge on the Mohyin-Hopi-Mekong-Myitkyina between mile-posts 356-367 and 20-foot long Tawetchaung Railroad Bridge on 27 April, 2021, 50-foot long Paundnetchaung Bridge between ward (2) and (3) in Shwegu Township on 4 May, 2021, the Kyautkway Creet concrete bridge connecting Chuangwa Village in Katha Township and Minkyaung Village in Shwegu Township on 9 May, 2021, and the 60 foot-long steel-frame bailey bridge (722) on the Myitkyina-Mandalay road near Naungpon Village in Nankway Village Tract in Myitkyina on 30 November, 2021 and launched ambushes on security forces along the routes.

The destructions and blows-up of non-military infrastructures like public railroads, highways and bridges used by the travelling public cause difficulties for travelling of the national races and a lot of damage to the regional development.

Moreover, the Myanmar Tatmadaw has repeatedly communicated to the KIA not to attack its bases, the KIA ambushed the small bases commanded by platoon-level forces by overwhelming forces and the KIO vice-chairman Gun Maw inspected the posts by himself.

Moreover, although it has been informed not to involve in the on-going clashes in Shan State (North), it was found that the KIA has ignored the warnings of the Tatmadaw and has engaged in the clashes.

Moreover, it is learnt that the KIA has been building weapon and ammunition factories near the Myanmar-China border, using the arms and ammunition in their violence acts  and providing them in destructive and violence acts and promoting domestic terrorists beyond the scene.
As a result, the Tatmadaw has to reportedly take measures to respond to prevent such violent acts and will carry out necessary measures to respond to terrorist attacks that harm the public and attacks on security posts as necessary.
