Myanmar hosts 20th ASEAN Air Chiefs Conference in Nay Pyi Taw

A delegation led by Commander of the Royal Brunei Air Force (RBAirF) Brigadier General (BG) (U) Dato Seri Pahlawan Mohammad Sharif bin Dato Paduka Haji Ibrahim, a delegation led by Royal Cambodian Air Force commander General Soeung Samnang, a delegation led by Laos Air Chief Brig-Gen Khamlek Sengphachanh, a delegation led by Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Air Force Air Chief Marshal Alongkorn Vannarot and a delegation led by Chief of Staff of the Air Defence – Air Force of Vietnam Lt. Gen.Nguyen Van Hien arrived at the Nay Pyi Taw airport on 12 September 2023 to attend the 20th ASEAN Air Chiefs Conference (20th AACC) hosted by Myanmar, and were welcomed by senior military officers from Tatmadaw (Air) and officials.

Commander-in-Chief (Air) General Tun Aung received delegations led by Air Chiefs from Brunei, Cambodia, Laos, Thailand and Vietnam separately in the afternoon of this day, and discussed matters related to friendly cooperation between ASEAN Air Forces. Similarly, delegations led by ASEAN Air Chiefs also made separate meetings.

Myanmar hosted the 20th ASEAN Air Chiefs Conference (20th AACC) at Ruby Hall of MICC-1 in Nay Pyi Taw on 13 September.

First, agendas were read out and approved. Afterwards, attendees posed for documentary photos together and commemorative shot video clip of successive ASEAN Air Chiefs’ meetings was shown.

Then, Commander-in-Chief (Air) General Tun Aung, patron of the conference, extended greeting speech and opened the conference.

The ASEAN Air Chiefs discussed the topic of
“ASEAN Air Forces’ Cooperation for Sustainable Environment “, and Air Chiefs from the Philippines and Singapore participated through video message. The leaders then approved the outcomes of the meeting.

Then, Myanmar Air Chief made a concluding remark and transferred the ASEAN Air Chief Conference Chairmanship for the 21st AACC 2023 to Cambodia. Then, the signing ceremony to approve the agreements of 20th AACC was successfully held.

On the evening, Commander-in-Chief (Air) General Tun Aung hosted an honorary dinner for Air Chiefs who attended the 20th AACC at Jade Hall of MICC-1. ASEAN Air Chiefs, senior military officers from Tatmadaw (Air) and delegates from member states were attended the dinner and posed for group photos.

The Commander-in-Chief (Air) had a dinner together with the attendees. The entertainment troupes performed with dances and songs.

Myanmar hosted the 11th AACC in Nay Pyi Taw on 24 September 2014 for the first time. The 20th AACC is the second meeting hosted by Myanmar.
