Acting upon a tip-off on the drug which were about to be trafficked from Shan State to Kayin State, a combined team including personnel from Drug Enforcement Division seized 705 kg of crystal meth, 1 kg of ketamine and 700 g of heroin with a total value in excess of 14.15 billion kyats were impounded on a 6-wheel Canter truck near Pine Forest, on bypass road, Pyin Oo Lwin Township, Mandalay Region at 1630pm on 8 June, while the automobile was being driven and accompanied by driver Sai Xai Mai and attendant Sai Shin Thant Zin. The associates Ye Naung, Nay Lin Htike and Lan Doe Mung were subsequently arrested. Follow-up investigation led to the arrest of Win Kyaw Thu, Aung Zaw Myo in Garden City Complex, Pyi Gyi Dakun Township at 12 noon on 10 June. 100 million kyats, 2.5 visses of gold and 3 automobiles were seized in the compound of the puppeteer Sai Hpa @ Aung Min Hkant. They were thus taken into legal action and follow-up measures are being carried out to uproot other associates. Other police works are also being carried out in order to confiscate gold, currency, vehicles, buildings and properties under the money laundering law.
