Russian companies and MOEP signs MOU for three wind power projects implemented in Myanmar

The Ministry of Electric Power and Russia-based Nova Wind JSC Company signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for three projects that generate electricity from wind power implemented in Magway and Mandalay regions, according to the MOEP.

Under the MOU, Nova Wind JSC, a subsidiary of Russia’s state-owned nuclear firm Rosatom, and Primus Advanced Technologies Limited (PRIMUS), Myanmar-based company, will jointly conduct the wind-power feasibility studies for 116 megawatt Minhla wind power project and 56 megawatt Mindon wind power project in Magway Region.

Moreover, Nova Wind JSC and Zeya & Associates will jointly conduct the wind-power feasibility studies in Kyaukpadaung and NyaungU townships in Mandalay Region for Popa (200 MW) project.
In March 2023, Roasatom representatives visited Myanmar and submitted project proposals to the respective ministry for 300 MW of wind power projects.
