Ashes of remain of Bhamo Sayadaw set adrift into water of Ayeyawady River

The ceremony to set the ashes of remains of Late Bhamo Sayadawgyi adrift into the water of Ayeyawady River water was held on the morning of 7 June.

The ashes of the remains of Late Bhamo Sayadawgyi were put into the urns systematically.
The urns were conveyed with the decorated floats from the Chan Mya Charzi Airfield to the Mayangyan jetty accompanied by the monk disciples and nuns, lay persons led by the Union Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture U Ko Ko and Union Ministers, Departmental officials, Wut Associations, traditional royal procession, relatives of Late Sayadawgyi and the disciples far and near.

The decorated Karaweik barge accompanied by the other decorated boats conveyed the urns to the middle of the river and the ashes of the remains of Sayadawgyi were set adrift into the river at the designated place.

The Late Bhamo Sayadaw Dr Bhaddanta Kumarabhivamsa Abhidhaja Maha Rattha Guru and Abhidhaja Agga Maha Saddhamma Jotika who served as the Chairman of the State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee for almost 13 years is a most venerable Sayadawgyi.

In accordance with the Ovada of the senior venerable Sayadawgyis and the guidance of the Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, the final rituals of the Late Bhamo Sayadawgyi was held at old Chan Mya Tharzi Airfield in state level in line with the religious traditions and customs on 6 June.
