The Acting President and Chairman of the State Security and Peace Commission, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, stated at the Finance Commission meeting No. (1/2026) held today that the government will transfer responsibility for the state to the government elected by Parliament. He emphasized that the current government has laid the groundwork for positive developments and achievements.
The Acting President mentioned that the National Defense and Security Council has conducted a multi-party democratic general election starting on December 28, 2025, in accordance with four key objectives. Following these elections, the government will hand over state responsibilities to the newly elected government.
He noted that, as the current government has established the foundation for success, the incoming administration must prioritize expenditures by sector to ensure continuity in governance.
To this end, the budget for the 2026-2027 fiscal year will reflect the state’s policies and objectives. The Acting President stressed the importance of carefully calculating and allocating only the funds that can be fully utilized in the fiscal year for essential projects that need to be executed.
Furthermore, the Acting President indicated that for the upcoming fiscal year 2026-2027, the country’s gross domestic product (GDP) is projected to reach 195,032 billion kyats, with an expected economic growth rate of 3.4 percent.
