Authorities have been conducting screenings and investigations into foreign nationals illegally entering Myanmar. It has been discovered that the majority of these individuals enter Myanmar through neighboring countries, aiming to work illegally for their personal gain.
The government, in collaboration with region and state authorities, security forces, and joint task groups, has been actively and rigorously investigating, uncovering, and arresting individuals involved in illegal online gambling, financial fraud, and other criminal activities.

As part of these ongoing efforts, on February 9, in the Mongha region of Mongyai Township in northern Shan State, 21 Chinese nationals engaged in illegal online gambling and financial fraud were arrested.
Necessary investigations are being conducted, and legal procedures will be followed accordingly.
From February 5 to February 9, in the aforementioned region, a total of 102 individuals were arrested for involvement in illegal online gambling and financial fraud.
This includes 5 security personnel, 48 Chinese male nationals and 2 female nationals, 18 Vietnamese females, 5 Myanmar males, and 29 Myanmar females. Additionally, 260 various types of phones, 25 laptops, 21 desktops, 28 keyboards, 2 WiFi devices, 7 Starlink units, 7 various weapons, 72 computers, 5 gaming machines, 3 various vehicles, and related accessories were seized.
The arrested individuals are currently under investigation.
Legal actions will be pursued in accordance with the law, and efforts are being made to repatriate foreign nationals to their respective countries, guided by humanitarian considerations and international friendship.
The government is collaborating with neighboring countries and international organizations to rigorously investigate and decisively take action against those involved in illegal online gambling, financial fraud, and other criminal activities.
