Myanmar’s manufacturing sector showed further signs of stabilizing demand conditions in July, as indicated by a slight increase in the Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI). The S&P Global Myanmar Manufacturing PMI survey for July 2025, released today, highlights the ongoing recovery from the recent earthquake.
The Myanmar Manufacturing PMI rose to 49.5 in July, marking the third consecutive month of increases, up from 49 in June 2025. However, it still remains below the benchmark level of 50.
Maryam Baluch, an economist at S&P Global Market Intelligence, stated, “The start of the second half of the year has shown that the recovery from the earthquake continues. Manufacturing activity has eased, new orders have remained broadly stable, and there are signs of improving demand prospects that are supporting sales.”
Manufacturing companies across Myanmar have experienced a decline in production levels for the seventh consecutive month; however, this decrease was the smallest since mid-March 2025. The drop in production is attributed to a decrease in new orders and a shortage of workers.
The final analysis indicated that expectations for marketing and expansion have improved, leading to optimistic projections for production growth over the next 12 months. While confidence levels have increased this month, most participants anticipate that production levels will remain stable over the coming year.
