The Yangon Electricity Supply Corporation announced on December 21 that it is planning to implement LNG power plant projects to solve electricity shortages in the short term.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The total installed capacity of the power plants generating electricity is 7,272 megawatts. If these plants are fully operational, they can generate and distribute about 4,000 megawatts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The statement also said that efforts are being made to quickly repair damaged power lines and power plants damaged by natural disasters to compensate for the reduced electricity generation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Currently, the company can only generate an average of 2,400 megawatts per day, which is only 55 percent of the demand, the statement said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In addition, it is announced that the country is planning to generate electricity from its own resources, such as water, sun and wind, to meet the long-term increase in electricity consumption. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
