In Myanmar, Mount Popa is considered to be the most promising site for achieving world geopark status.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As a global geopark, Mount Popa National Geopark will not only help to conserve and protect Myanmar&#8217;s unique natural heritage, but also promote awareness of the country&#8217;s natural resources and cultural heritage around the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>UNESCO\u2019s World Geopark Programme, initiated in 2001, currently includes 177 geoparks in 46 countries. China, with 39 world geoparks, has the highest number of global geoparks.
