A museum of antique fire engines is open to the public and has opened within the compound of the Department of Fire Services in Mayangon Township, Yangon Region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The department director U Thein Tun Oo said, \u201cThe museum opened to the public to learn about the history of fire services and fire engines used throughout different periods. That is the first of its kind in Myanmar, and we are very proud of it. Similar museums exist in other countries\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Many foreign visitors came to observe the vehicles, some of which date back to the colonial era.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The museum exhibits nine antique fire engines, including the \u201cFire Kings\u201d \u2013 Merryweather (Steam) and Merryweather (Petrol) \u2013 which were manufactured in the UK and arrived in Myanmar in 1909. The Department of Fire Services currently has 3,665 fire engines at its disposal nationwide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
