Myanmar held a durian fair at Myay Padaythar Garden in Yangon on Tuesday to promote the country’s durian industry and support efforts to enter the global market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Speaking at the event, Union Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation U Min Naung said that one of the main features of the fair was the exhibition of high-quality, high-yielding, and commercially viable durian varieties from various regions and states, giving dignitaries and the public an opportunity to observe them firsthand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Through this fair, Myanmar must not only systematically document the traditions and history of its durian cultivation but also formulate and implement a strategic roadmap for future production to elevate the industry to an internationally recognized standard, he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He also urged all stakeholders participating in the fair to work together to cultivate both native and foreign durian varieties to ensure Myanmar durians successfully enter the global market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Officials from the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation, representatives of local durian associations, durian growers, and local and foreign durian enthusiasts attended the event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Myanmar has more than 60 durian varieties. As of 2025, the country’s durian cultivation area had reached approximately 24,000 acres, U Min Naung said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
