The opening ceremony of the UN Peacekeeping Officer Course, jointly launched by the Myanmar Army and the Indian Army, took place at the PARKROYAL Hotel in Nay Pyi Taw on the afternoon of May 11. This course aims to familiarize officers and soldiers of the Myanmar Army with the responsibilities associated with UN peacekeeping.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Attendees included General Kyaw Swar Lin, the Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Services and Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Services (Army), along with senior officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Services, the Commander of the Nay Pyi Taw Divisional Command, the Indian Ambassador to Myanmar, H.E. Mr. Abhay Thakur, military attach\u00e9s, Indian Army training officers, and Myanmar Army trainee officers and officials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The ceremony began with General Kyaw Swar Lin and the attending members reviewing records of the Indian Army’s involvement in UN peacekeeping operations, as well as documentation of joint training exercises conducted by the Myanmar and Indian Armed Forces in this area. These records were explained to them by the officials present.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Following this overview, the formal opening of the training course commenced with a speech by General Kyaw Swar Lin. Subsequently, the Indian Ambassador to Myanmar, H.E. Mr. Abhay Thakur, delivered opening remarks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services and the Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services (Army), along with other participants of the ceremony, viewed a video clip titled “Indian Army Contribution to United Nations Peacekeeping Operations.” Following the video, the Head of Training from the Center for United Nations Peacekeeping (CUNPK) of India provided an explanation of the training objectives and the UN peacekeeping process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Afterward, the Deputy Commander-in-Chief, the Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services (Army), the Indian Ambassador to Myanmar, and the Head of Training exchanged souvenirs. They also took a group photo with the members, training officers, and trainees who attended the opening ceremony.
