The \u201cLaw on the Prevention of Disruption and Sabotage of Multi-Party Democratic General Elections\u201d was enacted by the State Administration Council under Law No. (48\/2025) on July 29, 2025. This law imposes the death penalty on any individual involved in crimes committed during the election period if such crimes result in a person’s death.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Section 17 of the law specifies that no person shall, directly or indirectly: (a) threaten, obstruct, or use undue influence to prevent a voter from casting their vote; (b) voluntarily inflict pain; or (c) voluntarily inflict serious bodily harm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Section 18 of the Act states that during the election period, no person shall threaten, obstruct, or harass a polling station officer, a member of a polling station, or any individual assigned by the Commission or a sub-commission. Such actions are prohibited if they aim to prevent these officials from carrying out their duties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Similarly, Section 19 of the Act prohibits any person from threatening, obstructing, or harassing a member of the Election Commission or a sub-commission during the election period. This is also prohibited if the intention is to hinder them from performing their responsibilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Section 20 of the law states that no person shall, directly or indirectly, (a) threaten, obstruct, or harass; (b) intentionally cause pain; or (c) intentionally cause serious pain to any candidate for parliament who is unable to campaign in accordance with the law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
