U La Nhaw Zawng Hara, former chairman of the KIO-KIA, passed away this morning, May 15, around 7:00 AM. He died at his home in Ward (1), Laiza, after suffering from age-related illness. He was 87 years old.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He joined the Kachin Independence Organization in 1964. He served as chairman from 2006 to December 2017. After retiring due to health issues, he continued as an advisor. General N’Ban La later took over as chairman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The date of his funeral has not been announced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
KIO-KIA is currently active, providing training and weapons to PDF groups and engaging in armed conflict. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
